Step One thought and scripture – Day 8.

Step One in Alcoholics Anonymous

Admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.

Step One in Living Free

I now see [admit] that I, of myself, am powerless, unable to control [manage] my life by myself.

As we came to the end of ourselves and thought we were going to (and sometimes wish we would) die, we began to totally rely on God. Because of our reliance on Him, He saved us from death. He will continue to rescue us as we continue to rely on Him.

2 Corinthians 1:9-10

New Living Translation (NLT)

9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10 And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.
